Today, two North Carolina State football players sat with a disabled student who always sits alone at lunch. This student who normally sits by himself, as you can see in the picture, is bound to an electric wheelchair. Most of the time, people view "less fortunate" people differently and try to stay as far away as possible. Typically in college, athletes carry a stereotype of being 'cocky', 'better than all others', and that they tend to live in their own little world, not worrying about others. This image and story tears down those walls and proves that no matter how physically fit or smart you are, you really aren't better than anyone else in the big picture of life. I love this photo because it shows two big time, Division I, high level football players portraying something bigger and better than what people see on the outside. They are breaking the stereotypes. I would like to believe that little things like this take place everyday all around the country, but I am happy to see that this particular instance is going viral, showing everyone that something as little as sitting at a table for lunch with someone can have a huge impact on someone's life.
