Madison Setness- Outside Reading
While looking for a topic to write my research paper on I browsed different online hiker journals. One post that I came across was that of the story of Trail Angels. Not being an avid hiker I wasn't entirely sure what a "Trail Angel" was. As I read on the hikers wrote on about how they were welcomed into some one's home for shelter and a home cooked meal. As the night went on they learned more of each other and how the family was more in need then they had seemed. The hikers learned that the family's son they were staying with was in the hospital to undergo surgery to remove cancer from his body. The family is facing financial hardships, but continues to open their home to hikers, so in return the hikers have started a donation fund via whiteblaze to try and help give back to the people who so graciously gave to them. I'm still shocked at the generosity of the AT community.
