In The Phenomenology
of Prayer, the author writes in the introduction “Prayer, though, is not
simply about a connection to the divine but also about us.” Which at first was
hard for me to grasp, because I thought pray was all about us giving ourselves
up to God. That when we pray we should not do it for our benefit, but be
delighted we can be in the presence of God. So how can prayer also be about us?
I think it has to do with how we are actually engaging in prayer. That if we
are not in the mood our prayer is affected by it. So I see now that prayer is
about us and about the divine, because prayer is a mutually thing.
