"Levinas insists that righteousness and piety are essentially intersubjective...The ethical relationship is responsibility, but to be responsible is to love" To care for another is is to be responsible. In prayer we intercede for others and assume responsibility for asking for their well being and their happiness. Benzon states that to pray is the same to love. I believe that is statement holds truth if we love others enough we hold ourselves responsible for their happiness we will try to due everything for them. When we pray we tend to intercede for the well being of  our families, and friends and that they will exceed in there day's task.
