The Explicit Gospel-Philip Vivirito (outside reading 3)

Whenever I go to the Christian bookstore I always browse the shelves, usually just looking. I hardly buy anything. One day I was prompted to buy a book titled, The Explicit Gospel. The word explicit usually has a negative connation to it. On I-tunes songs that have bad language in get the title as explicit. The concept of this book is to remind us what is the first and utmost important thing in our Christian walk, the gospel. So when the author is saying explicit he is meaning that you need to know the gospel for what it is. The book seems like an academic book the way it is written, but it engages the reader to dive into scripture. When I was reading the book it got me thinking, do we teach the gospel based on how we feel? That we teach the gospel and leave stuff out, and shape it the way we want to hear. This book tells us in order to understand it we need to teach the gospel for what it is, the good news. Doing this we will understand Jesus better and also understand our relationship with God. It seems like a hard thing for me think that way, because we usually pick a topic to talk about and use scripture to back it up. We need to pick a scripture and get a topic out of that.
