Mitchell Genovese Outside Reading 2

I read a lot of articles and books on the marches that were involved in the Civil Rights moment this semester for classes.  It stuck out to me, after learning what I did in this class, that for some people these marches were very much a spiritual journey.  Not as much in the sense of travel but in the sense of life changing events.  There was a form of communitas while on these marches between the marchers because they were all there for the same purpose no matter whom they were.  Communitas being an important part of journey is a key sign that it was spiritual.  I would have never really thought of the marches as being like that but when you see images and read stories from the people involved it really stands out that they were much more than meets the eye.
