Madison Setness- Lane Reading

In our last class of the semester we talked about how pilgrimages relate and differ from tourist. In Lane's book he discusses how pilgrimage is an elusive enterprise, slightly relating to our in class discussion. However Lane's writings talk about hoe just because you visit a sacred place (tourist, sight-seers) does not mean you are automatically granted "wisdom or zeal" from that sacred place. Just visiting a church or famous cathedral does not make you holly.  The gaining of new knowledge comes from having "new eyes". With these new eyes to see such sacred places, wisdom and zeal can then be achieved and obtained.
