Martha: Dawn
I
run almost every day at a time most people aren’t up on campus and the rest
don’t want to be. Some of those days I’m out on the track running around in
circles until I forget how long I’ve been running. Because of the shifting of
the earth the sun rise changes, but given what time of the year we’re running
it’s usually dark and for the most part it stays dark. However the average workout
lasts over an hour and so by the time the work out is done the sun is usually
either rising or risen. I’ve seen every color fade in and out, watched clouds
burn with brilliance. That’s one of the places I see GOD the strongest, as I
run I see the reflection of HIS face. This allows me to understand some kind of
deeper connection, words without words and feelings without places or names. The
dawn has had symbols attached to it for as long as people have been looking at
the sun, the idea of rebirth that no matter how scary or dangerous or cold the
night is, the sun will come back up and a new day will begin. Within the sun I
rarely see promise, what I see is a reflection, not just of GOD, but of an
ideal.
