This summer, I took a test on how I
communicate with God the best. I thought for sure I would be scored as an
enthusiast, which is someone who experiences God through energetic worship. I
thought, because my personality and mannerisms are energetic, that the way I
communicate with God would be that way too. However, I scored the lowest on
enthusiasm and highest on the contemplative- meaning I communicate with God the
most through knowledge and contemplative thought. This was the exact opposite
of how I thought I would score on the test, but it makes complete sense. After
learning this about myself, I started to look at what I liked to do- I reading
theological books and having much time to journal and write about what I am
learning.
I
think what is interesting here is knowing that we are all made to communicate
with God differently. I think it is interesting that the can be different than the way we
personally interact with others, seeing as though I personally interact in an
extremely energetic fashion, but I do not relate to God in that way. Thinking
of this in terms of sacred communication, an individual can interact with the same
sacred ground, but have completely different sacred experiences. This is
because we are each wired to communicate with the divine in different ways.
