Martha: Phenomenology of Prayer 1

Prayer in its most basic form is speaking with GOD, almost everyone prays, but think about that, talking to GOD.  Think about what that means, it means that despite the huge gap between humanity and divinity, we can speak to the Almighty. This idea can be so overwhelming that we underwhelm it, make it a formula, and make it a solution to bridge the gap. We make it simple so that we don’t have to think about it, and more importantly what it means for a person to exists in communion with the Divine. GOD is GOD, creator, redeemer, literally the ALMIGHTY. Why are we allowed there? And yet we live in a place where we’re allowed to speak to this being. Not only allowed to, encouraged to. Even sects of religion that call for some kind of intercessor between GOD and mankind still encourage people to speak with their creator. This idea goes above and beyond what most people think it does. GOD seems to care about us, enough that’s HE is willing to listen to us speak day, night and every time between. This means a level of love that we can barely understand. We don’t know how to treat this GOD who loves us so much, and so we ignore and understate what it means.
