During a storm one year, a tree fell down in the wood line
of my neighbor’s yard. The tree was
large and was still able to produce leaves.
You could climb all over it, from the branched to the roots. My neighbor and I used to hide in the
branches for hours. It was a fort for us
to play in, which we did often. Until
the tree finally died, it protected us from our siblings and the sun. Just like animals in the forest, we used it
as shelter. It was, for us, another
home. Looking back, I can begin to
understand how vital the forest can be for animals to survive. They work in simultaneously to help each
other.
