Martha: Reading between the lines

Did you know that there's a mistake in the Bible? I'm sure there are hundreds or mistakes throughout the whole thing, but I'm talking about one that goes above translation or loss of time. In Matthew there is a genealogy of Jesus. It was written for Jewish Christians, so one of the points for them was to prove that Jesus fulfilled the prophecies made by prophets. The point of the genealogy was to prove that Jesus came from the house of David, which I'm assuming, however... it traces through Joseph. That would have been how it was traced back then, fathers were more important than mothers. Another key point though was that Mary was a virgin, so that means that it would be impossible for Joseph to be the father of Joseph, in fact I'm pretty sure the main point of Christianity is that Jesus is the SON of GOD. The funny part of actually reading genealogy, which almost no one does. Both Matthew and Luke do this, they also don't completely agree on a fair amount, although this is believed because Luke traces down through Mary's line, and then just sticks Joseph's name at the end which was there because of the times.
