Hey Dr. Redick,
“Dear Journal”
seemed as if it would have a bit odd to use in this context so I decided to
make my journals a letter to you; a conversational reflection as opposed to an
uncontrolled verbalization of my thought process, which would have most likely
been the alternative. This way, I think the questions that we are encouraged to
ask in our journals would flow more freely.
I wanted to make
my first journal somewhat of an introduction for, well.. me! My goal is to
provide a little background of who I am and how that could possibly relate to
the class. This will help provide a better understanding of where I’m coming
from in the journals to come. Here goes! My name is Shannon Rose and I am
mostly Irish by descent-completely American by heritage. I have a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ and have dedicated my life to serving Him. One
of the more recent findings about the spiritual aspect of my life is that being
in nature and worship through music is the most effective way for me to recharge
and reconnect with God. I am not certain of the Lord’s call on my life, so I
spend a lot of time pursuing deeper intimacy with Him and greater knowledge of
the Word. I lead YoungLife at Grafron High School and absolutely love it; the
relational aspect of this ministry is so unique and so powerful and I am so
grateful that I am a part of it. Although I have only given one club talk so
far, I believe that telling groups of people about Jesus could potentially be
one of my strong suits. If the Lord continues to affirm that idea, I plan to
pursue a Seminary degree after earning a degree for my double major of Business
Marketing and Philosophy-Pre Seminary at CNU. After that, I hope to serve as a
youth pastor or work at a YoungLife camp or something of the sorts.
I signed up for
your course with no knowledge of the Pre-Seminary program, but as I have been
attending class and talking to you, I have grown to be exceptionally fond of
the idea. As I was signing up for Fall classes last semester, my intentions for
taking this class were random and semi-meaningless, but there is no doubt in my
mind that God wanted me in your class for a reason-a big one. So, I would like
to thank you, in advance, for being a significant part of that.
I hope that this
is an acceptable layout for my journals. I would like to apologize for
procrastinating this assignment for so long, but I assure you that I will put
forth every effort to make these journals the best that I can. Can this journal
count as one of the “topic of my choosing” journals? Technically, we did talk
about introductions and why we took the class on the first day together, so it
is relevant! If this is not acceptable, I understand and I will write another
for you. Also, I meant to ask, how long do these journals have to be?
Until next time!
Shannon Rose
