Martha: Landscape of the Sacred 2

The idea of Chronos and Kairos are two similar but different ideas. They don’t completely touch, but they brush. And by brushing they do connect. Chronos is the idea that there is a continual time, and that it moves. Kairos is a singular moment, that one second that will never leave you no matter how long you try to make it. Sometimes it’s built on regrets, other times it’s built off joy, the happiest, saddest, scariest, more beautiful moments, that’s Kairos. It isn’t easy to live in those moments, it isn’t easy to live on a high all the time, most people would rather live at a distance from the mountain only going up on it sometimes, but not having to live under it. The top of that mountain is incredible, but it isn’t a place to stay in, or you end up destroying yourself. It’s like any other kind of drug, you become addicted and it will kill you eventually. But the ones who don’t ever go up to the mountain are even worse, they could live forever, but all they’re doing is surviving, they don’t actually get to live. Mountains are hard, but they are worth it I swear.
