Martha:Image and Pilgrimage 1

Pilgrimage is powerful, and dangerous, it’s killed many people, and has caused more people to become killers for the sake of whoever they call their GOD, despite that it’s the same GOD, and HE seems to prefer peace and love to violence. But pilgrimage, when taken for the right reasons can also be beautiful. It draws people closer to GOD and gives them experiences that they otherwise couldn’t reach on their own. It enlightens them, makes them change their lives, and pulls them away from the regularity of their lives. It places a break in what they are and what they need to be. It gives them a chance to reach up and be more than they thought they were capable of being. In this way it’s a beautiful thing, in other ways though it can be terrible. Pilgrimage has spread pestilence, destruction, has caused death and regularly causes holy wars on small and large scales. Despite all that what pilgrims seek isn’t wrong, it’s a goal that is too holy and to unique to be totally broken.
