Shaquan Cook-Landscapes of the Sacred 2

On pages 49-52 it talks about contested places: sociological and legal efforts to define the sacred. It says that it is often the contested character of a place that most signifies its sacral quality. It never occurred to me how often this happens. It should not take some kind of conflict or issue for other people to view a place as sacred to someone. They should be able to accept what that person believes.
