Ashley Bowles- Trail Hygiene- Journal #2

In order to prevent yourself from getting sick on any trail, you must take precautionary measures.  It is the simple things that mean the most such as remembering to wash your hands, not sharing water bottles, and being careful of where you sleep.  Most of the time you are not at a sink with soap to wash your hand but you can carry Germ-X to sanitize your hands before you touch food or touch your face.  It is important to not share drinks with people you really don’t know, you don’t know what bacteria they may be spreading.   If you sleep in a shelter you may want to sweep off where you are going to sleep, watch where you set up your stuff if you are sleeping in a tent.  There is no way that you can prevent all the bacteria but by taking precautionary measures you can prevent the majority of them.  Remember every little bit helps.
