Another topic brought up in Lane's book is the differentiation between topos and chora and the differentiation between chronos and kairos. Topos and chora are both used to describe place. Topos is used to describe mere location. Topos can be measured while chora can not. Chora is an energizing force. Plato described it as space that is pregnant. An example of topos would be the local mall. But let's say that something significant happened in this particular mall. Then, that mall would become chora.
Chronos and Kairos are both used to describe time. Chronos is like time on a clock- it is always the same. Kairos is time that is unrepeatable. In Kairos, something is about to happen, or time is pregnant. Lane says that a moment kairos is to truly encounter wonder.
I personally liked this section of Lane's book because I never thought about time and place like that before. Which makes me think that every term we use has multiple meanings- sometimes polar opposites.
