Drew Carpenter - Personal Experience 1
My freshman year of high school I visited Jamaica on a mission trip with my church. Before I fell sick due to an ear infection, I with three other members of my church and a Son Servant (the mission organization) leader hiked a nearby mountain overlooking the camp. The hike was harsh due to extreme heat and steep climbs, but the outcome was amazing. As we reached the top of the mountain, the overlook onto the camp below, as well as onto many parts of Jamaica was eye-opening. It is here that I noticed the beauty of a country that is in extreme poverty. Looking down on the camps and surrounding areas of work that the youth were participating in allowed for the sacred communication I desperately wanted from God. It was here I realized what God was calling me to do for these people, as well as myself.
