For one to properly pray, he or she must be completely focused. There mustn't be any distractions. You must work to completely engrossed with the task at hand, which is connecting on a personal with the almighty power that is important to you. If one is not totally and utterly focused on the prayer, then the connection to the almighty will be lessened. Simone Weil says in the novel Gravity and Grace, "Attention alone -- that attention which is so full that the 'I' disappears -- is required of me. I have to deprive all that I call 'I' of the light of my attention and turn it on to that which cannot be conceived."
