Harley Guenther- Women on the trail with men- my choice

There is an idea in today’s society that men can’t go very long without a sexual partner. This being said, isn't it a accurate assumption to say that on any trail, any man that is not hiking with his partner will become a ball of pinned up sexual tension and at some point could explode? I know that it is also said that the trail is filled with people that go with the flow and is a semi-safe place. How can they be so sure? With a mixture of “frustrated” men and women walking around without male figures alongside them, many things are unsure and bound to happen. When researching the number of rapes on the Appalachian Trail, I came across an article that stated this, “Psycho Killers: Yes, there are psycho killers on the Appalachian Trail. The total number of people killed on the trail is a matter of some dispute. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy maintains an effective disinformation office (aka Ministry of Truth) that uses fancy words to bend the truth. (For example the ATC doesn't count hikers who were killed in towns while resupplying along their trip). Psycho killers aside, the ATC doesn't count rapes, assaults, or robberies either. If you are planning a hike on the AT be forewarned - that noise outside your tent might not be a cute woodland critter, it may very well be a lunatic bent on killing, raping, and robbing you (not necessarily in that order)” (“Appalachian Trial”). I believe that makes my point.
