Madison Setness- Natural Setting

Over Thanksgiving break I hiked up to High Point, a local day hike spot near my house. High Point being my favorite outdoor spot in Haymarket I was excited to hike up to the over look and take in the view. My hike this past break was very different from most of my past hikes as it's now winter and all the leaves had fallen covering most of the path. In fact fall storms had caused one of the paths to close due to down trees, this caused us to take a completely new path to the top. The walk up my friend and I were able to catch up, which was awesome. Once at the top I just sat on the rocky over hangs and looked out at the landscape. The quilt like patch work of the country side never ceases to amaze me. When I'm up on High Point I not only am able to take in the amazing views of nature, but I also am able to clear my mind. Hiking up to High Point is a break in my life to escape from the fast-pace-materialist-world. I go up to the top and sit for an hour or two then I come back down and go about my life. Going up to High Point allows me to reconnect with nature and escape for a little while.
