Jake Andrich- "Modern Pilgrimage" (Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture)

     When people now a days talk about pilgrimage, some refer to it as "modern" pilgrimage.   However, in Image and Pilgrimage in Christian Culture, it is mentioned that "we must emphasize that by "modern" we here donate postmedieval.  In tone, these pilgrimages are actually antimodern, since they usually begin with an apparition, or vision, and they assert that miracles do happen", so when people mention "modern" pilgrimage in conversations, they are actually talking about the wrong thing, not realizing that pilgrimage is actually not modern.
